1938, Hall of Records

In 1938 the Mount Rushmore National Memorial Commission was re-formed, and Gutzon Borglum seized this opportunity to populate the committee with members who would not stand in his way regarding what he wished to accomplish with the mountain. Under this newly formed committee, Gutzon Borglum pressed forward with new plans for the Hall of Records, a stately hall imagined to lie within the mountain of Mount Rushmore, which could house the most important documents to America; the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution of the United States.
